OzMozis focuses on quality and practical advice and analysis, and on results. Our work is built on the recognition that sustainable development is best delivered through clearly designed programs consistent with the long-term implementation of appropriate policies and practices.
What OzMozis is
OzMozis is a development consultancy and services company based in Maputo, Mozambique, and operating in Mozambique and elsewhere in Africa. The company was founded in 2009.
In terms of experienced, quality work, OzMozis stands alone in its fields of expertise.
Director.The principal of OzMozis is Michael Baxter, an Australian. He has worked on development for more than thirty years, including living for significant periods in Africa, South Asia, Latin America and the Pacific. Michael´s main professional association has been with the World Bank, spending 2004-2009 as the Mozambique-based regional country director for five countries in southern Africa. Through his work with the World Bank and before, Michael has extensive networks in the public, private and NGO sectors in southern Africa and beyond, and among multi- and bi-lateral donors.
Over many years, Michael has demonstrated his commitment to working on development, operating in developing countries, and to resolving policy and implementation issues. He speaks Portuguese, and after degrees at the universities of Melbourne and Papua New Guinea, gained a PhD in economic geography and regional planning from the University of California, Berkeley. He has undertaken a range of training activities within the World Bank and beyond, such as the Advanced Management Programme at the Harvard Business School.
Alliances. OzMozis has strategic alliances with two high quality and deeply experienced Mozambique consultancy companies - MALEfin and Swiss Capital Partners.
